Thomas Rogers, Associate Professor of History at Emory University, will host a discussion of his paper, “How Brazil’s Biofuel Program Made a Meal of Rural Workers” on Friday, Jan 20 at 3:30pm in 320 Leconte Hall. I pass on the following preface from Tom: “Thank you for reading this paper about sugarcane workers in Brazil. I’m working on a book about the national alcohol-production program referenced in the paper: Proálcool. The book explores the program’s origins and its environmental and labor impacts. This paper will be part of one chapter on the latter theme. I look forward to discussing the piece and appreciate your thoughts.” If you would like a copy of the paper, contact Dan Rood.
